cycle breakers.

A 6-Week Program for those Breaking Generational Patterns

The change begins with us.

Know your patterns. Change your story

A therapeutic group

for people ready to understand themselves, break generational patterns and create something different — for themselves and the people they love.

We often say:

"I don't want to be like my parents."

"I'm going to do things differentlY."

"My children won't experience what I experienced."

But change isn’t as simple as deciding to do things differently.

The patterns we carry are often formed long before we have the awareness or language to understand them. They can show up in the way we communicate, attach, parent, manage conflict, set boundaries, seek connection — and even in the things we believe about ourselves.

Because you can’t make lasting change for someone else.

The change begins with us.

Starting October 7th & 9th for 6- weeks. Spots are limited.

Join online from anywhere in the world, or attend face-to-face in Sydney, Australia.

What is CYCLE BREAKERS?

Cycle Breakers is a small, therapist-led group for people who want to explore the experiences, relationships and patterns that have shaped who they are today. This isn't about blaming our parents, rewriting our childhoods or becoming a “perfect” parent.

relevant for
parents and caregivers

It is particularly relevant for parents and caregivers who are conscious of what they want to pass on to their children — and what they don't.

Useful for
everyone

But you don't have to be a parent to benefit from this work.

It's about
Developing

It's about developing enough awareness to recognise what is happening, enough compassion to understand why, and enough choice to begin doing something different.

You might simply be asking:
Why do I keep responding this way? Where did I learn this? Why is this relationship so difficult for me? What am I carrying that isn’t actually mine? How do I become the person I want to be?

WHAT YOU'LL EXPERIENCE

Talk therapy + experiential therapy

Cycle Breakers combines verbal and experiential therapeutic approaches.

Talking about our experiences can be incredibly valuable — but sometimes words only take us so far.

Experiential therapy uses action-oriented approaches such as role-play, movement, creative processes, visualisation and other immersive activities to help us explore experiences in a different way.

These approaches can help bring awareness to parts of ourselves that may be difficult to access through conversation alone.

And you choose how much you share.

You won’t be required to tell your whole story. You decide what you share, when you share it and how deeply you go.

The group provides a confidential and supportive environment to explore parts of yourself that you may have lost touch with, never had the opportunity to see, or simply haven’t known how to put into words.

WHAT YOU MAY TAKE AWAY?

Greater self-awareness

Recognise the patterns, beliefs and behaviours influencing how you relate to yourself and others.

A deeper understanding of your story

Explore how your experiences, relationships and family systems may have shaped the way you respond today.

More choice in how you respond

Begin moving from automatic reactions towards greater awareness and intentional responses.

Greater understanding of relationships

Explore attachment, communication, boundaries, belonging and the relational patterns that shape our lives.

Compassion for yourself

Learn to hold your past and present with greater understanding rather than shame or blame.

Tools for breaking patterns

Develop ways to interrupt familiar cycles and experiment with healthier ways of relating.

Connection with others

Discover that you're not the only person questioning, struggling with or trying to change these patterns.

A different way forward

WHY GROUP THERAPY?

There is something powerful about doing this work alongside other people.

You don’t have to be the only one asking the hard questions.

You get to witness different experiences, perspectives and ways of relating — while also discovering the parts of your own story that become clearer when reflected back through others.

This isn't a space for comparing whose story is harder or giving each other parenting advice.

It's a space to explore, reflect, experience and grow.

sometimes, hearing someone else put words to something you've felt your whole life can be the beginning of seeing yourself differently.

Meet Melanie Raimundo

Registered Counsellor | Family & Youth Therapist

Melanie is a registered counsellor with the Australian Counselling Association, family and youth therapist, corporate coach and presenter — and a mum of two young children.

She began her career as a corporate coach and presenter in 2017 before moving her focus to private counselling practice in 2020.

Since then, Melanie has worked with individuals from 9 to 80 years old, as well as families of different ages and sizes.

Over and over again, one thing became clear:

Our struggles rarely exist in isolation.

Whether the presenting issue is identity, belonging, communication, behaviour, conflict or relationships, there is often a wider relational system surrounding the individual — family, school, workplace, community and the experiences that shaped them.

This understanding has become central to Melanie’s therapeutic work.

Her passion is helping people understand themselves within the context of their relationships and experiences, and supporting them to heal the patterns they don’t want to continue carrying forward.

As a parent herself, Melanie knows that this work isn’t about becoming a perfect parent.

It’s about becoming more aware of the person we are bringing into our relationships — so we have greater choice in what we pass on.

A NOTE ON SAFETY & CONFIDENTIALITY

Cycle Breakers is a therapeutic group facilitated by a registered counsellor. Confidentiality, boundaries and participant safety are central to the group. At the beginning of the group, clear expectations will be established around confidentiality, respectful participation and the limits of confidentiality that apply within counselling. You will never be pressured to disclose something you are not ready to share. Group therapy may not be appropriate for everyone, and registrations will be reviewed to ensure the group is an appropriate and supportive environment for each participant.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I need to be a parent to join?

No.

While Cycle Breakers may be particularly meaningful for parents and caregivers who want to break patterns for their children, the work begins with you.

You may simply want to understand yourself, your relationships and the patterns you've inherited or developed throughout your life.

Is this a parenting group?

No.

This isn't a parenting education program or a space focused on learning how to “parent correctly”.

It is a therapeutic group focused on you — your experiences, relationships, patterns and capacity to create change.

Do I have to talk about my childhood?

No.

You choose what you share.

Experiential approaches can provide different ways of exploring experiences without needing to explain every detail verbally.

What if I don't know what my patterns are?

That's completely okay.

You don't need to arrive with a list of things you want to fix.

Part of the purpose of the group is developing the awareness to recognise what is happening beneath the surface.

Can I bring my baby?

Lap babies are welcome to the Sydney face-to-face group.
The group is designed with parents in mind, while recognising that caring for a baby doesn't stop when you walk into the room.

Is group therapy confidential?

The group will operate within clear confidentiality agreements and professional counselling requirements.

Participants will be asked to respect the privacy of other group members. As with all counselling, there are circumstances where confidentiality may have legal or ethical limits, which will be explained before participation.

What happens after I register?

You'll complete a short registration form so Melanie can learn a little about you and understand what you're hoping to gain from the group.

Your registration will then be reviewed to ensure Cycle Breakers is an appropriate therapeutic setting for you.

You'll receive confirmation and information about the next steps, including payment and group arrangements.

YOUR PATTERNS DIDN'T START WITH YOU.

And they don’t have to end with you.

You don’t have to know exactly what needs to change.
You simply need to be willing to look.

START WITH YOURSELF.
